Every travel publication out there is publishing their ‘where to go in 2020’ lists, but I’m curious what you think. Do you have a favorite place you think others should visit? Want to nominate your hometown? Anywhere you DON’T think we should be traveling?
I’ll start. Visit the Middle East! I live here, so I’m a little biased, but places like Jordan and Oman have so much to offer. Lebanon too, and I would love to see more people visiting the Kurdish region of Iraq (I used to live there and am happy to offer tips if you want to go—shoot me a message).
I know that it sounds a little crazy but I want people to travel to Venice. What the city needs now more than ever after the terrible high water last month is visitors who are interested in being better travelers. Stay in Venice or even better a lagoon island for a few days. Stay somewhere owned by Venetians, shop at local food markets, eat in family owned restaurants & buy things from artisans. Do your part to help ensure that Venice will survive.
Venice is beautiful. I've traveled there for work in nearby Vicenzia. I would really like to travel to the Patagonia Region of South America. The only problem is I don't have anyone to travel there with because none of my friends and family have the Wanderlust bug that I have. I don't mind solo traveling because I travel 150 days or more a year for work. I'm just really leery of going to South American countries alone. Any thoughts or tips on solo traveling in not so safe and remote areas?
