Hello and happy 4th of July to those who celebrate!
Iām not in a super celebratory mood about the U.S. right now, but it is nice to be in the Midwest during summer. Many hours hanging out outdoors with family and friends, drinking beers at the union in Madison, walking along the lake in Chicago, playing in the water with our nephews and niece in Michigan. Midwest summer is the best!
Not to get all sappy, but one reason Iām frequently so angry about everything happening in this country is because I really love it and, until recently, believed in it.
Lots of travel news out there but it will have to wait for next week. For now, here are some links in case you have time this weekend to read. I hope you have a nice weekend wherever you are!

Read, Cook, Listen
Read: I read Sandwich in a day. Excellent summer beach read.
Cook: This peach, cucumber, and mozzarella gochujang salad was a hit at a family get together.
Listen: My brother reignited my love for Sufjan Stevens last week. I always listen to Chicago when I run along Lake Michigan (cheesy, I know) but there are so many great songs perfect for a lazy summer day.
(this song is actually so sad, but pretty)
Thanks for reading!
